Discover the charm of Newcastle's oldest artist studio building, offering a peek into the working world of a diverse range of creators. Engage with artists, explore paintings, ceramics, sculptures, jewellery, furniture, and more while enjoying live music. A unique glimpse into the vibrant heart of Newcastle's art scene.
There will also be on show 'Just Building Bridges' a new photography exhibition by Newcastle based sanctuary seekers. The theme for the collection of photographs is about building bridges to justice including social justice and climate justice.
Local issues of waste, litter, and noise; bigger economic issues such as the fast fashion industry; and some very topical issues of global significance such as the conflicts in the Ukraine will be presented in photography and a zine.
‘Just Building Bridges’ is the result of a series of workshops facilitated by Theresa Easton, lecturer in Fine Art at Newcastle University; Carl Joyce, photographer and filmmaker; and Michael Quille, writer and editor from the Culture Matters co-operative, which managed the project.
Thanks are due to the exhibitors, Newcastle University and the Hatton Gallery Learning Space for the use of premises and equipment, and the Passionist Community for financial support.
