Newcastle University's Hatton Gallery has been at the heart of cultural life in the North East since the early 20th century. The Hatton stages a programme of modern and contemporary art exhibitions and events including artist and curator talks and family activities. We work closely with students from Newcastle University and exhibit their work on an annual basis.

Come along and encounter the Hatton’s current large-scale exhibition, Wilhelmina Barns-Graham: Paths to Abstraction, which explores the work of the celebrated Scottish artist, from her early work based on the Cornish landscape through to the abstract canvases she made during the 1960s and early 1970s.
Enjoy live folk music whilst taking part in a variety of craft activities. You will be able to create an abstract artwork inspired by the exhibition, make an art postcard and send it to someone special and or design your own abstract art bag to take away.
