The former coal staiths is believed to be the largest timber structure in Europe. It is a Scheduled Monument, Grade II listed and is owned by the registered charity Tyne and Wear Building Preservation Trust (TWBPT).

20. Event at Dunston Staiths

Open: 6-11pm

Dunston Staiths will open in the evening especially for The Late Shows. Views of the River Tyne from the iconic structure and its environs are stunning, and well worth seeing. Staiths Friends will be on hand to answer your questions.

Right by Dunston Staiths Cafe will also be open, and will be hosting Beccy Owen's Pop-Up Choirs at 6pm- 8pm with a live performance. No previous singing experience/perceived musical ability necessary. Places must be booked - popupchoirs@gmail.com

Staiths Cafe will also be showcasing new work by Powder Butterfly for a limited period only! To add to Powder Butterfly's North East collection - a special series of mugs designed to celebrate the 20th birthday of the Angel of the North, and an angel inspired necklace with an ordinance survey map of the Teams Colliery etched onto it. Get them before they are gone!
