Alphabetti Theatre is the best kept secret in Newcastle. The 70 capacity venue, located in a basement of an old office block in the city centre is complete with its own bar boasting a wide array of local ales, craft beers and spirits. From 10pm we’ll be letting the North East’s favourite JaZZ RiOT loose: they’ve been described as: "A glorious blast of vitriol and tenderness...very funny and very true."
JaZZ RiOT were one of the most talked-about local acts of 2015, and the conversations mainly consisted of people arguing about how to classify them. Is it comedy, spoken word, mad folk music, Geordie rapping or a bit of all of those? And does it matter, as long as it works? For the record, then, they're not comedians, but they will make you laugh until your face hurts. They're not political activists, but they want you to know that this government is killing the poor, and they're not a Dickensian drug-dealer and a Byker car-thief, they just dress like that for the stage because it amuses them.
