Newcastle University's Hatton Gallery has been at the heart of cultural life in the North East since the early 20th century. The Hatton stages a programme of modern and contemporary art exhibitions and events including artist and curator talks and family activities. We work closely with students from Newcastle University and exhibit their work on an annual basis.

16th May Saturday Only
Open: 7-11pm
For one night only the Hatton Gallery is transformed into a laboratory of experimentation, a meeting place between the utopian visions of the 1960s and the sub-cultures of the 1980s. See retro footage of artists dancing on the ceiling, experiment with modernist constructions in the gallery, scrawl a city across the walls, and feel the throb of live synth DJ sets, plus the chance to enjoy irreverent comedian-led ‘hack’ tours of our exhibitions, including a last chance to see Invisible Cities and Peter Yates:Paintings 1939-1982.
